Title: OutFoxed Author: bizzzichick@yahoo.com (Satina) Website: http://www.angelfire.com/scifi/xtasy Rating: NC-17 (Yeah, I'm back, baby.) Category: MSR, UST, 'bation, RST, A Disclaimer: Oh but if I did. Fox Mulder would be making me omelets every morning and Dana Scully and I would do each others' toenails and plan our next attack on his lanky ass. But, alas, I do not own them. We all know who does, so I ain't wasting prime writing time tellin' ya again. I have a story to tell here! Summary: Scully has a new boyfriend. Mulder doesn't like him. Not all is what it seems. Smut ensues. Notes: No post-ep. I would say it takes place around the end of Season Six, when they were still having some fun but not sleeping together. The Spoilers I can think of are the Pilot, The Host, En Ami, and possibly others. The X-files universe collides so completely with my own that I would be hard-pressed to remember which episode taught me what about the characters. Basically, you are totally missing out if you haven't watched every single episode (except Tesos De Bichos and Field Where I Died...and Alpha...my God what a piece of schlock.) Anyway, go borrow, buy, rent or check them out and get back to me. Special thanks to my own tall, sexy David. What did I ever do to deserve a husband like you? Thank you for helping me get this story right and for thinking of the title, which I swear is my favorite part. Thank you Nicole, for helping me to see that Grey didn't have to be evil to do his job in this story. I hope you like the way he turned out. Fasten your seatbelts. The ride is about to begin. Feedback: PLEASE! Tell me how it could have been better for you as well as how much you liked it. (Oh man, did that sound as kinky to you as it did to me?) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Mulder was pulling a stack of files out of the cabinet when he heard the familiar click of Scully's heels against the hard floor outside. He looked up and raised his eyebrows as his partner hurried in and made her way to her desk. "Morning, Scully." "Sorry I'm late, Mulder." Scully didn't look up from her fidgeting as she placed her purse under her desk and booted up her computer. "S'okay." Mulder kept his gaze focused on her as she settled in behind her paperwork. He was accustomed to seeing her in rather severe black suits, so the emerald green suitdress was a nice splash of color in his drab, dark office. "Nice suit." Scully finally looked up, looking a bit flushed. "Oh, thank you." She appeared a bit embarrassed by the compliment so Mulder didn't say anything more, but he felt unable to look away from the brilliant contrast offered by the sharp green against the fiery red of her hair. He sighed imperceptibly and opened a file. It was hard enough to keep his mind on his work when she dressed in her usual office garb. That sexy little spot of green was making it very hard to keep his eyes on his documents. Noon rolled around and Mulder leaned back in his chair and stretched. "Well, Scully, want to go grab some lunch?" Scully looked up from her computer, her eyes wide. "Oh! I...I actually have plans for lunch today, Mulder." She looked everywhere but at his face. "But thanks," she added quickly. Mulder nodded and leaned forward in his chair. "What kind of plans?" he asked casually, standing and reaching to retrieve his jacket from the back of his chair. Scully took a deep breath and swallowed. "I have a date." Mulder's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Anybody I know?" Shit. Where the hell did that croak come from? "Uh no...I mean I met him at the conference last weekend." Scully still wouldn't meet his eyes, tidying up the papers on her desk, getting ready to leave. Mulder studied her nervous form with narrowed eyes. It bugged the hell out of him that she wouldn't look at him, but he didn't want her to know that, so he finished putting on his jacket and strode to the door. "Have a nice lunch," he said on his way out. Don't do anything I wouldn't do." He didn't look back. Scully thought to herself that if she took his advice, she wouldn't be going on a date at all. She looked up to tell him that just as he rounded the corner and slipped out of sight. She grabbed her purse and walked out the door but he was nowhere to be found. Mulder waited until she had walked out of the front entrance to the building, then fell into step about twenty yards behind her. He had never tailed Scully before, but her behavior had him worried. He convinced himself that he was just making sure she wasn't running off on some wild trip like the one she'd taken with the Smoking Man, and told himself that once he was sure this was just an date, he would leave the two of them in peace. He secreted himself behind a bush, jumping as an errant twig poked him in the left butt cheek. He reached behind him and savagely broke it off as he watched a tall, dark-haired man in a suit step forward from the espresso cart and meet Scully with a kiss on the cheek. He felt his stomach do a flip flop as he watched Scully raise up on tiptoe to return the kiss. His eyes narrowing, he found his gaze fixed on the way Scully's calf muscles flexed as she went up on her toes, and how the soft curve of her bottom rose up and came back down as she settled back onto her feet. Had he told her 'nice suit?' She had no business wearing something that clingy to the office. No damn business at all. Mulder fell in several feet behind the couple, completely forgetting his earlier reasoning that he was only following her out of concern for her safety. His teeth ground against each other audibly as he watched the strange man put his hand at her back and lead her into the gallery. ... Scully wondered a bit at the familiar, yet new sensation of having another man's hand at her back as she walked into the building. She wondered what it was that made men do this, this little touching and guiding gesture. Normally she was offended by this obvious show of male possessiveness, but with Mulder she had always felt comfortable, knowing that it was just another way that her partner had her back; a literal interpretation, really. She found herself relaxing into Grey's touch as well, deciding that she had simply grown accustomed to the feel of a man's hand on her there. As they stopped at one of the exhibits, she felt his hand start to trace small circles on her back, and the pleasant little tingles resulting from that touch made her lean in toward him slightly and tilt her head. She wondered briefly why she felt so comfortable with this man. One lunch, one date and now she was leaning into his shoulder? She shook off her questioning and just enjoyed the warm, tingly feeling as his hand slid around and now gripped her waist gently but firmly. ... Mulder felt his nails dig into his palms and realized he was clenching his fists. Who the hell was this guy that Scully was all of a sudden so damn cozy with? Why hadn't he heard of him before this? Had she really just met him at the conference this weekend like she had said? They sure seemed chummy now, with him caressing her back and groping her waist and her leaning against him like some smitten schoolgirl. Scully turned her head up to look into her date's face, and gave the man a slow, sexy smile. Mulder's eyes got wide as she leaned her head back further, making herself completely open and vulnerable to this strange man. He watched as Mr. Grabby Hands turned and gazed down into her face, then felt his jaw tighten painfully as the guy's head tilted to the side in preparation to put his lips on hers. Mulder found himself wanting to run, yet being rooted the spot, unable to look away as the man's lips pressed against Scully's in a quick, hard kiss. Mulder's mouth dropped open and he heard himself gasp as Scully smiled and snuggled against her date and one large, neatly-manicured hand slipped up her back to play lazily with her hair. Mulder had seen enough. He quickly walked back to the Hoover building, lunch forgotten. He strode through the door and yanked his chair back from his desk. He had intended to sit down but he was too full of nervous energy so he shoved it back roughly and began pacing up and down the short length of his narrow office. He'd often assumed that he and Scully would end up as more than partners, more than friends...someday. But he'd pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind whenever they'd surfaced, not ready to deal with the complications that would come with such an increase in intimacy and commitment. He considered the fantasies about her that he indulged in the dark of the night as just a natural way of dealing with the tensions of living such an unpredictable life. He pursed his lips and raked his hands through his hair. Watching the two of them together had been almost physically painful for him and he wasn't sure he could face her, thinking of the way her eyes had looked, heavy lidded, as she turned her face up to beg a kiss of her new beau. He certainly couldn't take another minute of forced proximity to that brilliant green clingy dress that he now knew she had worn to impress *him.* Sighing heavily, he plunked down in his chair and tried to get re-immersed in his paperwork. He had almost succeeded when he heard her heels coming down the hall. ... Scully sighed and let her head tilt on her shoulders with pleasure, feeling loose and happy after her lunch with Grey. She stopped outside of the door to the basement office and licked her lips, a little hesitant to have Mulder see her like this. Surely she looked different. It wasn't every day that she spent her lunch hour walking hand in hand with a man, trading soft kisses and appreciating avant garde art. She took a deep breath and opened the door. "Hi Mulder," she said, cursing the overly breathy quality of her voice. Mulder rose out of his chair, scooping up files, papers sliding to the floor. "Hey Scully. Glad you're back. I didn't want to leave without telling you, but I need to run out and do a little research. I probably won't make it back today. I'll see you in the morning." Scully stood there with her lips parted to say something to him, but before she could think of a response, he was whisking by her and out the door, leaving her in a slight cloud of his scent. She blinked and looked around the office. It felt so suddenly empty and dark and depressing. She reasoned it was because of the wonderful lunch she had just spent, but found herself glancing up at Mulder's vacated chair from time to time as she settled in to catch up on her paperwork. Mulder didn't return for the rest of the day, and at 5pm Scully slowly gathered up her things and made her way home. ... Mulder beat his basketball loudly against the hardwood floor of his apartment, relishing the sting of the ball connecting with his hand as he forced the ball to bounce harder and faster. He only stopped when he heard his downstairs neighbor protesting his actions with a broom handle against his floor. He threw the ball into the corner of his living room and fell back on his couch with a sigh. His thoughts were a confusing swirl and his heart felt like it was going to burst out of his throat. His tongue moved over his teeth as his fingers brutally punched the buttons on his remote. Inevitably the VCR held a tape from his latest attempts to deal with his insomnia, and once his apartment was filled with the 'oh yeahs' and 'do it harders' of last night's selection, he tossed the remote to the side. The Scully he had seen today had been so radically different from the one he'd spent the last six years working with. He hadn't even known Scully was capable of making that "kiss me now" face, and he had never seen her raise up on tiptoe like that. He thought he had seen all the sides of Scully there were to see, but this sexually alluring creature shook him to his foundations. He shut his eyes against the thought and pursed his lips, frustrated. He had always seen Scully as a beautiful, warm, charming woman, as well as an incredibly talented and brilliant doctor and FBI agent. But he had never allowed himself to think about the fact that she could also be a sexual being. Well, not in anything but his fantasies, anyway, and those seemed just too well, fantastical to ever have anything to do with reality. But Sexual Scully was real today, smiling that sexy smile and looking up her new from beneath lowered lashes. Oh yeah. Sexual Scully had definitely become very real today. And he had to admit that the sight of those batting eyes and pursed lips had made him want to punch Bachelor Number One repeatedly in the face and push him to the side so that he could be on the receiving end of that red-hot gaze. He felt his fingers trailing down his abdomen as he tried to focus in on the slapping, grunting sounds coming from the TV. He stroked himself through the fabric of his jeans, thinking again of those strong calf muscles flexing as she rose up on tiptoe to kiss her date. He was about the same height as Mulder and if she were kissing Mulder, she'd probably have to raise up the same way. He squeezed himself through the denim as he imagined her body lengthening itself along his, her face coming toward his with that sexy smile directed at him. He visualized her lips parting, her eyes closing as he bent to her and lowered his lips to hers. He unzipped jeans with shaking fingers and pulled his straining erection free, totally oblivious to the porn on the screen, deeply immersed in the erotic fiction playing in his mind. They would be in public, the way she had been with *him,* and he would turn her body toward the wall, hiding her from spying eyes as his hands travelled lower over that slinky little suit, cupping that round, firm bottom in his hands as he deepened the kiss. Eyes closed, he spit into his palm and returned his hand to his cock, squeezing and stroking in a definite rhythm. He imagined Scully's small soft hands stroking down his back, smoothing over his ass as he pulled her harder against him, showing her the evidence of his need for her. He would grind against her slowly, carefully, shielding them from the onlookers with his billowing trenchcoat, feeling her body yield and rub against him. She would want it as badly as he did, and she would pull his hips harder against her and thrust her tongue into his mouth, matching the intensity of his mouth's exploration, making little whimpering sounds. Mulder's mouth was open, his tongue moving around the perimeter of his lips as his mind played out the passionate encounter and his hand brought him closer and closer to release. His other hand reached down and fondled his balls as the first sped up, his hips thrusting into his fist. She would break the kiss just long enough to gasp and look deeply into his eyes and say, "Oh God I love you Mulder!" Mulder's body jerked and shuddered as he spent himself over his hand, his eyes squeezed shut, seeing Scully's face gazing up into his with desire and love. "I love you too Scully. God I love you." The sound of his voice broke the spell of the vision and he jerked his eyes open with a start. With a spiraling feeling of despair and fear, he realized he didn't just want his partner...he loved her. And he didn't just want her to want him. He wanted her to love him. And she didn't. She wanted someone else. Maybe she even loved someone else. And he had no idea what he was going to do about it. But he knew he had to do something, because this was quickly becoming a totally unbearable situation. He turned and shoved his face against the back of the leather sofa, smothering his shuddering breaths along with the tears. ... Mulder looked up as Scully entered the office, pretending that he hadn't been aware of every little footfall in the hall outside. "Oh, good morning, Scully." "Morning, Mulder. You're here early today. What's up?" Scully hung up her coat and felt Mulder's eyes on her as she secured her purse beneath her desk. She brushed her skirt down behind her and sat. Mulder swallowed hard watching Scully brush her hands down over her bottom before taking her seat. She was wearing another dress he'd never seen before, this one a soft cornflower blue that made her eyes appear to be two blue flames lighting her face in a soft glow. With a sick feeling, he remembered the dress wasn't for him. It was probably for *him.* He sighed softly. "I just had some paperwork to catch up on after taking off early yesterday." Scully's eyebrow raised. Mulder was *never* in a hurry to do paperwork and had never before come in early to get a head start on it. Something else was up, but Scully had no idea what. She gave him a nod and turned to boot up her computer. Mulder was relieved that she had bought his flimsy excuse and he turned back to his own glowing screen, trying to block out the thought of Scully rising up on tiptoe to steal a kiss from him beside an outdoor espresso cart. He found himself staring at her several times, and he was almost sure she had caught him at least once, though she had said nothing and returned to her work, shifting uncomfortably in her seat. Arranging and rearranging the documents spread out over his desk, he looked at the clock and saw that it was almost noon. "So, have any lunch plans?" He tried very hard to sound casual. "No, I don't." Scully looked Mulder straight in the eyes. She had felt him looking at her on and off throughout the morning, and feeling of his eyes on her had caused her temperature to rise to the point where she was wiping her fingers on her skirt in an effort to keep them from slipping on the keys of her keyboard. "Wanna grab a sandwich?" Mulder felt stupid and desperate, offering something he had offered a million times before and almost unable to get the words out for fear he would be rejected this one crucial time. "Sure." Scully felt a rush of relief and happiness at the simple invitation. It would be a relief to face him across a table after having been under his scrutiny from across the room all morning. She stood up and walked around the side of her desk. "Great." Mulder couldn't stop the smile from making its way across his features as he stepped behind her. He placed his hand securely at the small of her back and felt an unfamiliar tremor go through his body at the familiar touch. He controlled his breathing and increased his pressure just slightly, guiding her out the door. He thought Scully must have felt the increased pressure because he was almost sure he had felt her body jump just a bit under his fingers. Scully was suddenly more aware of Mulder's hands on her back than she had ever been. Her stomach fluttered as she felt his warm fingers press firmly against her through the layers of suit fabric, and she reasoned that it must be because it was so similar to Grey's touch. After all, this gesture had never evoked such an obvious physical response in her before. She wasn't sure what to do about this new development, but she knew she would never ask Mulder not to touch her there. The thought alone made her feel incredibly sad and she slowed just the slightest bit, forcing the contact to increase even further. She sighed softly, silently, at the rush of warmth that made its way from her back around to her front to settle low in her belly. She fought the familiar urge to lean back against him and put her head on his chest, wrapping her arm around his waist. She blinked away the image, willing her heart rate to settle as they made their way out of the building. Mulder found himself watching Scully's movements more closely than he had in years. Back then, she had been diagnosed with cancer and he had watched for signs of discomfort or illness. His mission now was much more pleasant but fraught with many of the same moments of terror. Now he was watching for clues to the secret Sexual Scully she had never let him see. And he thought maybe he was catching a glimpse now and then as she carefully climbed onto a high cafe stool and perched herself there with crossed legs, the awkward position exposing an uncharacteristic inch or two of creamy white thigh. Mulder shifted on his own stool, cursing his choice of restaurants and the openwork iron tables which hid nothing. He felt the crotch of his pants get tighter and tighter and hoped fervently that Scully would keep her eyes on her menu. "So, ahem, what are you going to have?" Was that his voice sounding like a pubescent 13-year-old? Scully didn't look up from her menu as she spoke. "I think I'll just have some fresh fruit and cheese." She reached down with her fingers and tugged at the hem of her skirt, but could do nothing about the expanse of flesh exposed by this high perch. She supposed she should feel grateful that the bar around the bottom of the stool was high enough that she had somewhere to put her feet. Barely. Her legs were crossed but lengthened in an effort to touch her toes to said support. Mulder nodded and returned his attention to the lines of thigh muscle he could see through the thin fabric of her skirt. He held the menu up high enough that he was sure she couldn't see that he was looking at her. He shifted again. "These stools weren't really made for tall men, were they?" Scully looked up at him, setting her menu down on the table. He laughed nervously. "No I guess not." "They're not exactly perfect for short women, either," she said, wriggling on her seat just a little. Mulder gulped. He was inordinately grateful when the server came by to take their orders, but felt a moment of panic, realizing that her departure coincided with the removal of his menu, which was effectively covering the evidence of his arousal. Of course, the other times they had eaten at this outdoor cafe he hadn't been paying too much attention to Scully's legs and she hadn't been wearing a lovely little blue dress that matched her eyes perfectly and he hadn't spent the night before fantasizing about her throwing herself at him in an outdoor public place. Scully noticed Mulder fidgeting on his seat and felt sorry for him. Whatever discomfort she felt on these stupid stools had to be exacerbated for him, the way he was squirming. "Mulder...let's move to a different table." Scully slid down off the stool. Mulder watched Scully's little body slide to the floor and his breath caught at the way her skirt rode up, exposing more Scully thigh before she demurely smoothed it down. Gratefully he got up from the stool and quickly turned his back to her, making his way to a table with chairs. He could barely hide his sigh as he sank into one. He tried not to notice as she smoothed her hands over her bottom and took her own seat across from him. "So, Scully." Mulder dipped his roast beef sandwich in the au jus repeatedly. "Tell me about this guy of yours." It killed him to bring up the topic, but he had to know how serious she was about him. Scully looked up in surprise. "Well, Mulder...there's not much to tell yet. His name is Dr. Grey Kinney. I met him at the pathology convention, like I told you, and we've had two lunches and one real date. You'd like him, actually," she said, biting her lip thoughtfully. "He has a deep interest in comparative religion and mysticism." Mulder nodded. "Really? That's great. So. Are you going to see him this weekend?" He chewed and swallowed, the usually favorite sandwich tasting like wads of paper towel going down. "Um yes, actually. We have plans for Friday night." Scully looked down at her plate, confused at how uncomfortable it made her feel to talk to Mulder about her plans for the weekend. She cut a piece of melon in perfect proportion to her cube of cheese and speared both with her fork. Mulder watched as Scully raised the precisely cut fruit and cheese to her lips and he swallowed as her tongue peeked out the slightest bit to assist the food's entrance into her mouth. "Good. Good. Well...have a nice time." He said stupidly, shoving the rest of his sandwich in his mouth all at once, hoping it would keep him from saying anything else moronic. "Thanks." Scully swallowed the bite painfully, wishing like hell she was not having this conversation with her partner. He fidgeted quietly as she finished her lunch, then rose and waited for her to walk ahead of him to the door of the cafe. Placing his hand securely at her back, he wondered how long he could keep that French dip sandwich down, with her sitting in the room across from him thinking about her upcoming plans with her new boyfriend. Scully shivered slightly at the familiar touch, and tried not to think about how her reaction to Mulder's hands on her back was starting to become more intense than any she had felt under Grey's touch. What the hell was happening here? Was her relationship with Grey blurring the lines of separation between work and personal life? Did having a man's hands on her in a sexual way make any touch by a man feel more intense? Or was it something else? She didn't let herself think about it anymore as they walked back to the office and settled in to finish the workday. ... Scully sat across from Grey in the restaurant and found herself unable to think of anything but the increasing tension between her and Mulder. "Dana? Hun?" At the sound of Grey's low, rumbling voice Dana shook herself and came back to the present. "Sorry. Just...long day at work. Hard to let go I guess." Scully smiled a shaky smile and fingered her water glass. Grey reached across the table and stilled her fingers. She shivered slightly at the contact. His fingers, so long and graceful and warm, felt nice against her skin. "That's okay," he said, rubbing the back of her hand with his thumb as he held it. "But hey, let's leave work at work and just be with each other, okay?" His smile was that of a playful little boy and Scully found herself unable to resist it. She returned his thumb's caress. "Deal." The server approached the table, causing them to separate their hands and return to their menus. "Hi my name is Tricia and I'll be your server tonight. Can I get you something to drink to start with?" Tricia's greeting came out in a warm but tired monotone and Scully smiled in sympathy. "I'll just have a fruit juice spritzer, Tricia." "Aw come on, Dana. Have a real drink." Grey leveled his warm dark eyes at her in a mix of pleading and seduction. Part of Scully resented the manipulation, but part of her melted at the sight of those eyes staring into hers. Sighing slightly, she acquiesced. "All right. Make it a tequila sunrise." "Arriba!" Grey's eyebrows arched suggestively, startlingly reminiscent of similar eyebrow waggling she'd experienced over the past six years. Scully smiled uneasily. Did everything have to come back to Mulder? "So, Dana. Did you get a chance to read that book I left with you?" Scully swallowed. "Uh no, Grey I'm sorry. I didn't. I've been very busy at work." Grey gave her a playful half smile. "Read it, Dana. It'll change your mind about things. It really will." "I will, Grey. I promise. But I have to warn you, it's not really my kind of thing. Alternative religion, I mean." "Dana. There's more to this life than that which can be proven in a lab and easily categorized." Grey's tone was imploring. Scully looked up sharply, aware that Grey's words had been eerily close to those spoken by another tall, dark, good-looking man on the top of a hotter-than-hell government building a couple of summers back. She took a deep drink of her water. "So I've heard." "Just hear me out. You're a smart woman, and I respect your opinion, but you need to open yourself up to alternative paradigms." Grey reached across the table to take Scully's hands again. Scully thought he was probably pretty confused when he found they were trembling slightly. ... "Mmmmm. Have I told you yet how gorgeous you look tonight?" Grey nuzzled her ear and his voice was a low whisper behind her. She stopped trying to unlock her apartment door and smiled. "A few times. Five or six. But who's counting?" She turned her face toward his and brushed her lips against his cheek. She was surprised at the passion with which he grabbed her and spun her around, and when his mouth pressed hard against hers, she found herself reaching her hands up into his thick, dark hair and going limp in his arms. He pressed her against the door and she could feel his hardness jabbing her in the stomach. She squirmed at the shivers his fingers elicited as he trailed his hands down over her shoulders, brushing the sides of her breasts just slightly on his way down to her waist. He reacted to the movement of her body beneath his with more pressure and shifted his leg so that it pressed up between her legs, his erection digging into her hip. Scully felt herself melting into his kiss and his touch, then realized that she really didn't know this man very well. What was she doing? What was *he* doing? She didn't want things to go this far. At least not yet, anyway. "Grey..." Scully pulled her mouth away from his and fought to catch her breath. "Please...I don't think we should be doing this. It's only our second date." "I saw the way you looked at me, Dana." Grey said, his lips brushing against her neck and ear. "I feel the same way. Like I've known you a long time." His hands were stroking down over her hips now and caressing her outer thighs. "Grey, I...I do feel close to you, but..." Scully put her hands on top of his to still them, wriggling to extract herself from beneath his pressing body. His mouth opened against the side of her neck. "I feel *close* to you, too." He said, pressing himself against her to emphasize the word 'close.' Scully was starting to feel some irritation take the place of her arousal. Grey didn't really seem to be taking her 'no' very seriously. He was still kissing her neck and moving his hands on her hips, despite her own hands' attempts to stop him. She decided she needed to put a stop to this now. "No. Grey...this isn't right." She tried to move away from the door but was pinned by his lean body, pressing ever harder against her own. He stared down at her. "What are you waiting for, Dana? You told me yourself you hadn't dated in a long time. I see the way you look at me. I thought we were close. Don't pull away from me now. Things are just getting good between us." His hands came to rest on either side of her shoulders, making her feel trapped. Scully looked up at his dark eyes and saw the look of intensity in them. She glanced briefly at his arms bracketing her shoulders, and swallowed hard. "I...I know what I said, Grey. And I have felt closer to you than I had ever expected in such a short time. But...this doesn't feel right, Grey. It...just doesn't." She ran her fingertips over the ends of her nails, unconsciously testing their sharpness. "I think you should go." Grey looked down into her eyes a moment longer, then perhaps remembered he was dealing with an agent of the FBI. He sighed heavily then released her and stepped back, straightening his tie. "Fine. I'm sorry, Dana. I just thought you wanted this as much as I did. Guess you're just not ready. But, hey, I'd like to see you again. I'll call ya, K?" Scully let out a deep sigh of relief at not having to employ any hand-to-hand tactics to get her date to leave and nodded. "Sure. Good night, Grey." She watched as he made his way slowly down her hall and out the door and then turned back to her front door. Her hands were shaking slightly, but she managed to get the key in the lock and turn it and get inside the sanctity of her apartment. Her back slid down the door until her bottom hit the floor, legs bent. She sat, hugging her knees. The thing is, for a short time, Scully had been seriously considering having sex with Grey. She had found herself feeling a quick and easy intimacy and trust with him that she couldn't explain, and the physical attraction was always instant and powerful. But they had only gone on two real dates and had lunch a few times. It was hardly time to become physically intimate with him. So why had she responded so readily? Grey was right. She *had* given him several signals that she wanted him. She just wasn't sure why now that she was away from his dizzying attractiveness. She was still feeling confused and embarrassed about her own lack of control around this man as she snuggled down into her blankets and fell into a troubled sleep. ... Mulder cracked the 354th sunflower seed between his teeth and shook his wrist awake. He had been slouched in his car for over three hours now, ever since he had seen Scully and Grey pull away from the curb. Mulder shut his mind on those thoughts like a steel clamp. He shifted uneasily in his seat as his bladder started complaining about the multiple bottles of water he had consumed that night. Just as he was about to step out of the car and find a bush, he saw the black Intrigue pull up to the curb. He slid down in his seat and willed his bladder to hold out a little longer. Grey stepped out of the car and went around to Scully's side, opening the car and reaching in to help her out. As Scully stepped from the car, Mulder caught sight of one pale, slender leg, bare from mid thigh to ankle, ending in a little high heeled sandal. His eyes rolled as he felt himself getting instantly hard at this small glimpse of Scully's flesh. His bladder's needs were forgotten as stronger needs took their place. Grey had his hands all over Scully's shoulders, arms and back as she stepped out of the car, and he wrapped his arm around the top of her shoulder and led her up the stairs of her building. Scully was wearing a filmy little black thing Mulder had never seen before, and it made her skin glow like Mother-of-pearl. He spat a remaining sunflower seed shell savagely into the gray pile on the seat next to him and waited impatiently for the outside door to the building to close completely. He quietly opened the car door and made his way up the steps. He stopped at the top and peered carefully over the edge of the window in the outside door. They were in her hall and she was turning to unlock the door. He nearly threw himself at the door and broke it down as he watched Grey spin Scully around suddenly and bring his mouth down on hers. Through sheer force of will, he remained totally motionless, watching Scully reach up into Grey's hair and return the kiss. He felt a deep, sinking hopelessness as the two embraced. He noticed the sharp pain of his nails cutting into his hands as Grey's fingers brushed down the sides of Scully's breasts and she shivered at the touch. He thought he was going to spew about four hundred chewed up sunflower seeds into the flower garden when he saw Grey reach down and start moving his hands down Scully's hips and thighs. Mulder squeezed his eyes shut and was turning to stumble down the stairs when he heard the unmistakable word "no." Heartened and very alert, he turned back to the window. Mulder watched as Grey remained pressed up against Scully's small form. He resisted the urge to propel himself through the wood of the door as he watched Grey's arms settle themselves securely on either side of her body. But he knew that Scully would probably string him up by his own tendons if he made such a display of macho protection. She was a highly capable agent of the FBI and he knew she could handle this kind of situation without any kind of trouble at all. But that didn't mean that he wasn't just dying to give her a hand. He held himself barely in check, shaking with the effort. Finally he relaxed against the door as Grey leaned back away from her and they said their good byes. He stood out on the sidewalk, knowing that Grey had no idea what he looked like, and his eyes never left the figure of the man as he walked out and got into his car. It was all he could do not to jump him and pound his face repeatedly into the pavement, but he waited until the Intrigue pulled away from the curb, then went to his own car and drove back to his apartment. ... End part one. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Scully had come into the office dressed in one of her regular black suits and Mulder was grateful for the reprieve from having to see her dress for her new beau. He bit his tongue against all of the things he wanted to say to her and tried hard to concentrate on the expense reports in front of him. He had been stealing looks at her as she tapped away furiously at her keyboard for about two hours solid. The jarring ring of the phone startled him out of his Scully-induced trance. He picked it up. "Mulder." "Hello. This is Dr. Grey Kinney. Is Dana there?" Mulder felt his nostrils flare and his eyes narrowed. "Graaaaaay. Hi. This is her partner, *Special Agent* Mulder. Doctor, huh? What's your specialty?" Scully gaped at him. "Uh...I specialize in forensic pathology, actually." Dr. Kinney's voice was awkward, off balance. Mulder smiled. "Forensic pathology, eh, Grey? Yeah I deal with death a lot, too." He paused, listening to the man breathe. "Ever killed a man, Grey?" "Jesus, Mulder!" Scully was rushing around the side of her desk. "Give me that!" Mulder's voice was dead calm. "Okay, Grey. I'm just going to head upstairs and do a little background check on a scumbag I was tailing last night. I'll catch ya later." Mulder handed the receiver out to Scully, his face impassive. She snatched it out of his grasp, eyes sparking. She expected Mulder to walk out of the room like he had said he was going to do, but he simply sat back down in his chair and folded his hands in his lap. She cleared her throat. "Hello?" She turned her back to her partner, unable to think with his eyes on her. "Hi Grey. I know. Yes, I know." She turned and shot Mulder a look. "He's got a very unique sense of humor." Mulder didn't look away. "Yes, I'm sorry. I do. Sure, I'd like that. Umm...what about the bagel place? 12:15 then. I'll see you there. Bye." Scully turned and replaced the phone in the cradle. "Just what the hell was that about?" She said, her eyes penetrating those of her partner. "Lunch plans?" Mulder spoke from between clenched teeth, trying to smile. He leveled his gaze at her, unflinching. Scully looked into his eyes, and instantly regretted it. The look in them was much the same as when he was trying to break a suspect being interrogated. Relentless. Determined. "Y-yes. I'm meeting him at Antonio's." She frowned. "Not that it's any of your business, Mulder. God, what was that adolescent display about, anyway?" Mulder chewed thoughtfully on the inside of his cheek. "Just guy talk, Scully. I was just yanking his chain." Mulder didn't look very mirthful, though, and Scully was suddenly anxious to get out from under that intense gaze. "Whatever. Just don't do it again, please. Grey wasn't impressed." She swallowed as Mulder continued to look deeply into her darting eyes. "Uh, I'm going to go get a drink. I'll be back in a minute." She strode briskly across the office and out the door. Mulder leaned back in his chair and watched her go. They wouldn't be alone at their lunch meeting. And he just might do that damn background check after all. ... Mulder watched as Grey's arm draped itself across Scully's shoulders on the way to their outside table, and this time he could see that Scully was somewhat uncomfortable with the assumptive touch. Remembering the problem he had with the twig at the gallery, Mulder situated himself at the edge of the group of diners, holding his menu in front of him for cover. The waitress scurried over to him, all smiles, but he waved her away without looking at her. From this vantage point he could see both their faces but he couldn't make out much of the conversation. He figured he knew Scully's face well enough to know if things got bad. And if they did get bad, Grey was going to be very surprised at how quickly they could get a hell of a lot worse. Scully seemed to be unwilling to look at Grey, and Grey kept reaching across the table, attempting to take her hands in his. She avoided his touch, looking up at him from beneath lowered lashes. Grey dropped his hands in his lap and neither one spoke for a few minutes. Then Mulder felt his heart jump into his throat as he watched Scully's small white hand slowly slide across the table toward Grey. His teeth ground against one another as Grey's hand met Scully's and they clasped hands on the table, looking into each other's eyes. Grey had what Mulder thought was a very stupid half-grin on his face and Scully looked positively radiant as her gentle smile glowed across the table at him. Mulder was glad he hadn't eaten lunch. He might have lost it. Grey said something that Mulder couldn't make out and Scully's head tilted to the side shyly. He felt his stomach coil into a tight wad as Grey rose from his chair and started to bring his face closer to Scully's. Mulder watched, not breathing, as Scully's eyes closed and she leaned up into the kiss. He found his fingers punching speed dial 1, feeling like a grade-A, pubescent asshole. He didn't even know what he was going to say as he watched her head jerk to the side, aborting the kiss. What can I say, Scully? He thought sadly. I didn't happen to have any killer bees on hand. He sighed in relief as her hand reached inside her jacket and pulled out her cell phone. "Scully." "Flukeman." "Excuse me?" Mulder's mouth twitched at the corners as Scully's eyebrow shot heavenward. Mulder decided on his story at the same time the words were leaving his lips. "I think we've got another one, Scully. Get down to the lab. I need you." He watched as Scully looked at Grey, sighing heavily, then heard her answer him without taking her eyes off Grey's questioning face. "Now? I'm at lunch, Mulder." Her tone was scolding and Mulder almost relented. Then he saw Grey tilt his head imploringly and he steeled himself. "I'm not even supposed to know about this body, Scully. If you don't do it now, you may not get the chance. There's no one else in the lab, but I don't know for how long." He held his breath, as Scully looked at Grey, a frown creasing her brow. "All right, Mulder. I'm on my way." Click. Mulder let out the breath he had been holding and started making his way quickly back to the lab, ignoring the sharp pangs of his conscience. ... "I have to go." Scully rose from the table. "Dana...can't we at least finish our lunch?" Grey's voice was slightly annoyed. "I'm sorry Grey. My partner needs me." Scully wasn't looking at him. "Dana. I need you. He gets you all day long! All I'm asking for is fifteen minutes more! You haven't even eaten!" Grey reached out to grab her arm, but Scully evaded him as she stood up from the table. She sighed. "I'm sorry, Grey. The nature of our work doesn't always allow for regular hours. I really have to go." She felt guilty at the look of disappointment and resignation that settled over Grey's attractive features. "All right," he acquiesced. Hey, how about I meet you after work? We can continue our conversation." He smiled that puppydog smile again. The one Dana found nearly impossible to resist. She smiled back. "All right, Grey." "Great. I'll meet you at your car and we can decide where to go from there." Grey, heartened, reached over and gave her a peck on the cheek, which she accepted with another smile. "I'll see you then." She turned and walked quickly back in the direction of the Hoover building, feeling Grey's eyes on her until she had rounded the corner. She was approaching the lab when Mulder stepped through its door out into the hall. "Uh...false alarm." He said, grinning sheepishly at her. He saw her frown and braced himself for the coming fury. "Mulder, what do you mean 'false alarm?' You interrupted my lunch! I thought this was serious!" "Scully I did too! But I guess I jumped the gun on this one. Turns out it was just a dead body with a strangely shaped bite wound. No flukeman. Sorry to disappoint you. Maybe next time." Scully's eyes closed in frustration. "Well how about next time you wait until after lunch to show me dead bodies from the sewer? I'm trying to have a life! You should try it sometime!" She knew that comment was unfair, and rather than face the look on her partner's face, she turned on her heel and started back down the hall. Mulder rushed to catch up with her. "Sorry, Scully. Really. I...I thought it was serious." His hand reached out to settle at the small of her back and he stopped himself. He shoved his hand into his jacket pocket and sighed as they made their way back to the office they shared. ... Scully felt her stomach fluttering with anticipation as she made her way across the parking lot. She could see the long, lean line of her new boyfriend slouched casually against the side of her car. She felt her heart rate speed up as she got closer. He leaned forward and met her with a kiss on the cheek. "Dana! Hi! How was your day?" She was unaccustomed to having anyone ask her that and for a moment couldn't figure how to respond. "Um fine, Grey. How was yours?" "Well it was fine except for my lunch date running off when her partner so rudely interrupted us." His tone was warm but mocking. Scully sighed. "I know. I'm sorry, Grey. Turned out it wasn't even worth the trouble. I guess I owe you one?" She looked up at him from under her lashes coquettishly. Grey grinned and swept her into an embrace, turning and pinning her gently against the side of her car. Scully felt pleasantly dizzy at the assertive way Grey took control of her body and shivered as she felt the metal of the car at her back and the firm chest and abdomen of the man pressed against her. She dropped her keys to the ground and reached up into his hair, sighing as he brought his mouth down on hers passionately. ... Walter Skinner donned his sunglasses as the glare from the sun glinting on hundreds of windshields stabbed at his eyes. He scanned the parking lot as he walked, habitually on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary. He'd been surprised a few times in parking lots and he was always super wary anyway. He saw movement thirty yards away and his eyes narrowed in disbelief. His mouth dropped open as he saw the couple's mouths come together and he picked up his pace considerably. He came up behind the couple and cleared his throat loudly. "Agent Mulder, Agent Scully, This is not the place-" He stopped, realizing his error. This man was not Agent Mulder. He had the same height, same build, same clothes, same hairstyle and even the same olive complexion. But although this guy could easily have been a close relative of Fox Mulder, it was clearly not him. A.D. Skinner turned about five shades of red. Scully was shocked and embarrassed as her boss interrupted her kiss like an overprotective father. Anger and shame battled for an instant, then her mouth dropped open as she realized the misidentification Skinner had just made. She watched as Grey's eyes, round with confusion, met those of her superior, widened in shock and his own embarrassment. The trio stood there staring at one another for what seemed like hours to Scully but was really only a couple of minutes. Finally, Skinner blinked, clearing his head, and spoke. "I apologize, Agent Scully. I...I've obviously made an error here." His jaw clenched as he tried to hide his embarrassment. Scully swallowed her own acute discomfort, seeing the obvious distress her superior was in. "Sir, this is Dr. Grey Kinney. He's...he's a friend of mine, sir. Grey, this is my boss, Walter Skinner." Grey extended his arm, smiling hesitantly. "Glad to meet you, Mr. Skinner." Skinner shook his hand. "Likewise, Dr. Kinney." He looked over at Scully one last time and set his shoulders. "Well I'll see you at work tomorrow, Agent Scully. Good day." "Good evening sir." Scully let out a relieved sigh as her boss quickly strode across the lot to his own vehicle. She found it hard to meet Grey's eyes. "What was that all about?" Grey's voice was confused and wary. "Um...I guess..." She swallowed hard, not liking what she was about to say. "I guess he thought you were my partner, Agent Mulder." "Why would he think that?" Grey's voice was rising and Scully looked around, wondering how easily it would carry in the large parking lot. "Well, you do share some physical similarities, and you even seem to have the same taste in clothes," Scully said, letting her eyes roam over his long, sleek gray trenchcoat. "Really." Grey didn't look too happy. "Just how much like this *Mulder* am I, Dana?" She stared at the ground. "A lot, Grey." Her voice was quiet. "A lot. I see." His voice was low. "You know, that wouldn't bother me so much if you weren't having such a hell of a time looking at me, Dana." She looked up for just an instant and then dropped her eyes back to the ground. She couldn't bear to see his face now that she realized just how strikingly similar it was to her partner's. "I...I need to get home." She reached around him to pick up her keys from where she'd dropped them. Grey just nodded and made no move toward her. "I need to get home too," he said, stepping back to allow her access to her car door. "Maybe I'll call you later." He didn't sound all that sincere. "All right." She stopped and turned around, her back to the car door. "Have a good night, Dana." He turned and walked slowly out of the parking lot to the civilian lot. "You too." She could barely hear her own voice. She turned and pushed her key into the lock, then opened the door and sank wearily into her car seat. Suddenly so many things made sense. Like why she had felt such an instant and easy closeness and trust with Dr. Kinney, why she had felt herself so relieved at being able to laugh at his dry humor, and why she had not minded when he had quickly fallen into putting his hands on her in ways that she normally would have balked at. She closed her eyes against the inner voice that sounded suspiciously like her all-knowing big sister, Melissa. She sighed and slumped into her seat lower, weakened by the sudden realization that all of the deep attraction, affection and lust she had found herself unable to explain with Grey had really been all of the forbidden attraction she had been repressing for her partner. She turned the key in the ignition and backed her way out of the parking space, repeating her new mantra. ... Mulder had organized and reorganized the same stack of files three times and still no words had passed between them since their strained 'good mornings.' His jaw clenched for probably the hundredth time that morning and he sharpened his twelfth pencil of the day. He knew he would have to break the stalemate soon, or he was going to go completely fucking insane. Scully swallowed as she heard the headache-inducing grind of Mulder's electric pencil sharpener start up again. She glanced up and saw the muscles of his jaw tense and release. Tense and release. Scully wasn't stupid. She realized her relationship with Grey was creating tension in the office. She just didn't know if it was simple impatience with having to listen to her bring her personal life into their workspace or if it was something she hardly dared let herself hope for, like jealousy. She sighed lightly and wiped her hands on her skirt surreptitiously. When had it gotten so damn hot in here? Why the hell couldn't they have air conditioned offices like everyone else in the building? Scully was just rising out of her chair to go for a walk to get a break from some of the thick tension when the phone rang. She looked up at Mulder and his gaze was leveled darkly right at her. "Maybe you should get it." Mulder's voice was low and somewhat petulant. "It's probably Grey." Scully sighed. "I don't think so." Mulder's eyebrows raised in surprise. "Oh? Trouble in paradise?" Scully suddenly wanted to be anywhere but this office. She was in no mood to try and explain the end of her relationship with the cause of that end. And if that *was* Grey on the phone, the last thing she wanted to do was have a conversation with him in front of her partner. "I don't see how that's any of your business, Mulder. Answer your phone. I'm going for a walk." She started across the room. "I don't want to answer the phone." His voice was low and challenging. "You answer it." Scully sighed again. Part of her wanted to walk up and slap that macho attitude right off his gorgeous face. The other part of her wanted to throw him down on his desk and... "It's your phone on your desk, Mulder. Answer the damn thing." "OOooo cussing now, are we Agent Scully? You're just full of surprises." Mulder leaned back in his chair and ignored the continued ringing of the phone. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Scully turned and look at him, eyes narrowed. "Losing that calm, cool facade pretty quickly, Scully. Is this the effect *Grey* has on you? What the hell kind of a lame-ass name is Grey, anyway?" Scully looked at him steadily. What was this punk attitude about? This was absolutely the last thing she needed to deal with right now. "Well, *Fox,* I don't know. Why don't you tell me?" She crossed her arms in front of her. Mulder's voice was gravelly. "Well at least I don't throw my dates up against the door and try to cop a feel on the first date, *Dana*." Scully's mouth dropped open and her eyes widened. Mulder's mouth snapped shut as he realized what he had just said. He fastened his gaze on the phone, but it had finally ceased ringing and no longer offered him escape. Scully took several deep, shaky breaths through her open mouth, calming the roaring in her ears. When she spoke, her voice was clear and cold as ice. "What the *hell* are you talking about?" She fixed him with a frosty glare, her mouth a straight white line. Mulder met her glare with narrowed eyes. He tried to make himself feel sorry for spying on her, but all he could see was Grey, pressing her up against the wall. Grey's hands sliding down her thighs as she wriggled beneath him. "He was...you let him..." Mulder couldn't find a way to finish the sentence. Frustrated, he clamped his lips together, breathing heavily through his nose. Scully watched with fascination as a tiny drop of sweat glistened above Mulder's upper lip. She felt the heat flashing up her neck and taking over her face. "You...you *watched* me?" Mulder saw her turn red, and for a second he considered begging for her forgiveness. But the anger was quick to return as he visualized Grey's arms bracketing her small body against her own apartment door. "Yeah. I watched you. I was worried about your safety, Scully. And I was right to be. That guy wasn't exactly taking no for an answer!" Mulder stood up behind his desk and Scully watched his hands clench and unclench at his sides. "I can't believe this! I can't believe you were spying on me Mulder! What right do you have? What right do you have to interfere in my private life like that?" She eyes were throwing sparks and she shook an errant strand of hair away from her mouth angrily. "This is my life! Do you understand me? It's my life!" Her voice had taken on a scratchy quality and she felt tears burn her eyes. She refused to let him see her shed them and she let her anger swallow her pain. Mulder leaned over his desk, supporting himself on his splayed fingers. "I'm supposed to just stand by while some stupid date rapist puts his hands all over my partner? My friend?" Mulder's voice had risen two octaves and Scully saw the perspiration tipping the ends of his hair on his brow. "Date rapist?!" Her voice was shrill and incredulous. "Are you crazy, Mulder?" She stared into his flashing dark eyes, certain that he had finally snapped. What the hell was wrong with him? Grey wasn't a date rapist! Dana had never felt she was in any kind of danger, and until she had stopped things had been enjoying herself! This had to be some stupid macho posturing. Mulder had displayed his possessiveness with her before, but it had never gotten this out of hand. When she was sure her voice was her own again, she spoke with deadly certainty. "Yes, Mulder. I'm your partner. And I'm your friend. But Goddamn it, I'm *not* your wife or girlfriend, and you have *no* right to act like the jealous husband! I'm an agent of the FBI! I can take care of myself! And you know that, Mulder! You know that! You trust me to back you up in every kind of life-threatening situation, but you think you have the right to protect me from an overly horny date?" Scully felt her control over her voice give way and her tears overflowed as she screamed, "Get out of my fucking life already!" Mulder stood there speechless as her words registered in his brain. She was right. He had no right to spy on her. No right to worry about her, even. Her life had never been in danger. He *did* trust her to be as good in a dangerous situation as he was! So why the fuck was he still so indignantly angry? Why did he feel so justified in following her around? He felt a chill wash over his body as it became crystal clear. Because he *did* feel like the jealous lover. He was a hell of a lot more worried about what *she* was doing than about what this loser Grey might have in mind. He was angry at her for letting Grey put his hands on her when she wouldn't let *him.* He stood there, breathing labored, eyes wide, mouth open, frozen by her wall of scathing condemnation like a doomed animal caught in the headlights of a speeding semi truck. Until he saw her tears fall. Before he really knew what was happening, he had come around the side of the desk. He saw her eyes widen at his approach and saw her step back behind her desk uncertainly, but he didn't let her escape. He grabbed her by the shoulders, and they stared at each other, each watching the other breathing hard, each feeling the throbbing pulse of the other under their skin. "Scully, I can't. I wish I could but I...can't get out of your fucking life." Mulder's own eyes shone fiercely with unshed tears of his own. "I know I should. Christ, Scully...I know you'd be so much better off if I'd just get the fuck away from you! But dammit...there is no way I can do that!" He swallowed hard. "If you want to get rid of me, you're going to have to be the one to leave me, because I can't leave you!" Mulder's heart clenched painfully at the risk he took with those words, and he closed his eyes, steeling himself for the rejection he was sure was to follow. Scully felt herself shaking in Mulder's strong grip and bit her lip, tasting the tears that were still running silently down her cheeks. "Maybe I should, Mulder! Maybe I should try harder to get away! I can't take this anymore! Goddamn it Mulder! You're making me crazy! Don't you see? Don't you see that I was letting Grey get too close too fast because he's just like you, Mulder? God! He looks like you! He talks like you! He dresses like you!" Scully's voice was breaking now and her sobs forced her words out painfully. "I let him put his hands on me because...because it was like having *your* hands on me, Mulder, without all the complications and problems and risk!" She wrenched herself free of Mulder's grasp and stepped back. They were behind her desk, so there was nowhere else for her to go, but she just couldn't bear to have him touching her any more. She stared at the floor, holding herself and watching her tears drop to the varnished cement. Mulder froze, hearing Scully's words. It was too much to hope for, and he had never let himself. But she had said it. And her voice had been full of frustration and pain and raw honesty. God, could it be true? Could she really want him with the same dizzying ferocity with which he needed her? Could the same insane longing that made him do something as stupid as spying on his partner have made her do something as stupid as letting some guy put his hands all over her after just a couple of dates? Mulder felt dizzy. He blinked to clear his head, and when Scully pulled herself out of his hold, he nearly fell, catching himself at the last second on the edge of her desk. "Scully..." God, he wanted to tell her that if she wanted him to touch her all she had to do was ask. Christ, not even ask, just give him a sign, something to let him know he wouldn't end up with a sexual harassment complaint or a size six shoe in the nuts! He wanted to tell her that ever since that very first case, when she had bared her body to him in a moment of fear and panic, he'd found it increasingly difficult day after day, year after year *not* to touch her. That he would lie awake at night, thinking of all the ways he wanted to touch her, and all the ways he wanted her to touch him. How could he tell her these things? How could he make her realize how badly he'd wanted her to say what she'd just said to him? Suddenly he realized that she *had* given him that sign. A red- hot flashing neon sign that said "I want Mulder to touch me!" and here he was, trying to talk about it! He decided they both talked way too much. Scully heard Mulder say her name but she couldn't bear to look up and meet his eyes. She was terrified that she would see sadness, or anger or worst of all...pity. That just because he needed her did not mean he *wanted* her. That she was alone in wanting to take their relationship to a sexual conclusion. Why wasn't he saying something? He'd said her name and then gone quiet again. She needed him to tell her that he wanted her too. If he didn't do it soon, she was going to climb over her own desk and run from this dark, hot office and never come back. The breath was driven from her lungs as she felt herself being yanked roughly across the short distance between them and pressed firmly against a burning, heaving chest. One hand drove itself deeply into her hair, bending her head back almost painfully while the other wrapped around her back, supporting her firmly. She gasped as hard hungry lips mashed themselves down against her own. She felt herself go completely weak at the joining of their mouths and she knew with certainty that if that strong arm hadn't been at her back, she would be a puddle on the floor. Mulder felt his hand immerse itself in silky Scully hair and he grabbed her firmly around the waist as he told her, in the purest way he knew how, just how much he wanted to touch her. He felt her go limp at his touch, as his tongue pushed itself between her lips, and he ground his hips against her belly, desperate to connect with her in every way possible. Her mouth opened to his and his tongue dove deeper, sliding down her own and sucking it into his mouth as his cock pressed hard into her abdomen. For moments, he didn't know where he was. He was swirling in the intense satisfaction of possessing Scully's mouth with his own, holding her body hard against him. Then he realized her hands weren't touching him back. Her tongue wasn't kissing him back. She was just limp, receptive, passive. He broke the kiss roughly and pulled back, trying to see her face. Her eyes fluttered open and she stared up at him, dazed. Scully felt Mulder break the kiss and the whirl of confusion and heat and amazement swirled away and she could think again. She could move again. She opened her eyes, gasping for breath, grasping for a hold on reality. The gaze that met her made her let out a small noise of desire and fear. His eyes were fierce...all pupil...and they burned with a light she'd never seen before. But there was also fear there, and as she registered that observation, she started to gather her wits about her enough to wonder why he had stopped kissing her. "Mul...Mulder...why did you stop?" She brought her hands up his arms as the hand in her hair lowered itself to her shoulders. He was still holding her up with his other arm and for that she was grateful. She watched as those intensely dark, stormy eyes widened with confusion and...pain? "You..." Mulder swallowed painfully. "Scully, you didn't kiss me back." He couldn't look in her eyes any longer, so he focused his gaze on her mouth. The mouth which had let him in, but had not returned his expression of need and desire. He watched those swollen, wet lips part in surprise. "Mulder..." She made a sound halfway between a gasp and a laugh. "I...quite frankly, Mulder, it was so intense I could barely breathe, let alone return the gesture!" The lips he was focused so intently on curled into an embarrassed smile. Mulder slowly let his eyes travel back up her face, and met her gaze uncertainly. "Scully...I need you so much...but I would never...I don't want to force myself on you like..." He left the name unsaid, but Scully's blink of realization let him know he didn't need to finish. Scully stared up at the beautiful, unsure, tortured man above her in awe. How could he not know that her reaction had been complete and utterly debilitating *bliss* at finally getting what her body and mind and soul had craved for so long...so long! How could she tell him that when his lips had finally claimed her that she had been so completely enraptured that she had not had enough control over her body even to stand on her own, let alone to let her hands and mouth do what she had dreamed for years about doing? As she watched Mulder's tongue dart out to lick his bottom lip nervously, she decided she didn't need to talk. She reached up and sank her hands into that head of thick chestnut hair and yanked his head roughly down to her own, and opened her lips as their mouths crashed together once more. This time her tongue was the one thrusting between his lips, pressing and curling around his own, sucking it back into her mouth, licking that impossibly tempting fat lower lip and biting it, making little sounds of pleasure. Mulder was stunned with the power of Scully's kiss and it took him a moment to reciprocate...though not as long as the haze of confusion which had interrupted their first coupling. He met her tongue's probing and stroking with equal intensity and moaned helplessly when her little teeth sank gently into his lip. She was no longer limp but pressed urgently against him, rubbing her hands up into his hair, then down his back and grabbing his ass, squeezing and pulling his hips into harder contact with her body with soft grunting noises. Mulder was afraid that the combination of her sounds of pleasure, the power of her kiss and her soft body writhing against his was going to bring this all to a sticky, fast end. As Scully's little nails scratched his sides and back in an effort to get his shirt out of his pants and open, he struggled to pull her suit jacket off without breaking the electrifying contact between their mouths. He struggled with the buttons, moaning and grunting into Scully's mouth as her own hands ripped at his belt and button and zipper. He got her shirt open and roughly pushed her bra up over her breasts. He pulled his mouth off hers with a smack and attacked the newly bared flesh with groans of frustration and need. He started to feel around for the zipper on the side of her skirt but she stopped him, pushing his hands away. "Wha...?" He said around a mouthfull of breast. He looked up at her face, wondering if he should get off her but let out his breath out in utter shock, abandon and relief as pushed him away and reached down and hiked her skirt up around her waist and yanked her pantyhose and panties down her legs, throwing them on the floor. Then her nails were leaving small lines of fire as she raked his pants and underwear down far enough to get access to his cock. Mulder could only groan out loud and throw his head back as her hand wrapped itself around the painfully hard flesh. "God now, Mulder. Please...now!" Scully wrapped one leg up around his own, but their height difference wasn't going to make things that easy for them. Mulder bent down and hooked his hands under her trembling thighs and lifted, forcing her body back against the tall filing cabinets behind her with a crash. He wondered briefly if he had hurt her but had no more chance to ponder that thought as her mouth bit down on his shoulder hard. Scully wrapped her legs tight around Mulder's hips and wriggled, trying to get into the position she so desperately needed to finally finish what she had started when she drew his mouth down for her wanton kiss. She felt the length of him sliding against her soaking wet sex and she cried out, so close to coming but desperate to have him inside her when she did. Mulder's hands were the only thing supporting her and he was groaning helplessly, seeking her opening with his hips, unable to take himself in hand and find the sanctuary he needed so badly. Scully held onto his arm with one hand and reached between them with the other, grasping the burning silky flesh of him and bringing it into full contact with the opening to her body. She gasped and groaned as she felt him start to press into her. Mulder nearly climaxed when Scully wrapped her hands around his cock, and when he felt himself sinking into that tight, wet heat he cried out with an animal sound that made his throat hurt. Unable to hold back and make this slow and sensual, he sank himself all the way into her with another cry and froze, feeling the contractions in his groin beginning already. Scully felt Mulder drive himself deeply inside her and she tilted her hips to meet him, using her legs to pull him all the way inside. She could feel her body trembling and stretching around him and bit her lip painfully, keeping her threatening orgasm from ending everything too quickly. They stayed like that, Mulder buried to the hilt in Scully's body, holding her against the file cabinet, both of them trembling and gasping for control. When Mulder felt the first wave of impending orgasm abate somewhat, he started to pull back. He couldn't pull very far out due to the fact that the pressure of his body was needed to keep Scully high enough to complete this act and his arms were shaking and weak with the intense liquefying pleasure rolling through his body. Not letting his chest move away from hers, he used his hips to slowly pull an inch or two back and then pushed himself back in in a hard, grinding, rocking motion. Scully felt Mulder start to move and tilted her pelvis to bring it into perfect contact. He was pushing her body into the filing cabinet hard with his own and she felt his public bone grind against her with every hard, abbreviated thrust. She started whimpering, realizing that no amount of concentration or deep breathing was going to stop the impending earthquake in her body. She opened her mouth and bashed her head back against the metal cabinet as her body broke in a crashing, blazing explosion of sensation. "Ahhhhhhh GOD....Mullllll...." Mulder felt Scully's body start to shudder and jerk beneath his and as her muscles clenched and squeezed at him and her nails sank into the flesh of his arms, he began pounding her against the filing cabinet, ramming himself into her hard and fast, feeling the jolts of pleasure and heat and blinding loss of control spurting years of pent-up frustration and lust and love and longing and repression deep into her body. "Scuhhhhleeee..." As they both started to return to awareness, Mulder felt Scully's body slipping against his own and his arms felt like they had lost their ability to support her. He quickly hiked her up against him, still inside her and turned her so that he was facing her desk. He plopped her bare ass down onto the surface, slipping out of her awkwardly, then braced himself with his arms on either side of her, catching his breath. Scully felt herself being swung around and deposited on the desktop and she cried out a little at the sudden loss of Mulder's cock from her still twitching insides. She caught herself on her own hands, feeling them tremble as she supported herself sitting on the edge of the desk. She felt Mulder sag against her, his hands on either side of her. She opened her eyes and saw the top of his tousled, sweaty hair. She reached forward and laid her lips on it, then raised her chin to rest on his head, breathing raggedly. This was a bit of a change, his head fitting under her chin. She liked it. As her breathing steadied, she inhaled deeply, smelling his hair, his sweat and the overwhelming fog of their sex. Her body shuddered in pleasure and she bent and kissed his hair once more, sighing. Mulder caught his breath and opened his eyes, feeling Scully's chin come to rest on the top of his head. He smiled at the incongruity of the position and looked down at the amazing sight before him. Scully's skirt was a small, tightly wrinkled band of fabric around her waist and her thighs were slippery and glistening with sweat and the combination of her fluids and his. Her pubic curls were dark and slickened with those same fluids and he felt little tremors of pleasure travel through his body as he watched little droplets fall from her and wet the desk blotter. He wondered what the office supply clerk would think if they were honest about what happened to this one. 'Irreparably soaked with the sex juices released during the hottest, most mind-blowing sex of the decade.' He laughed softly. "What?" Scully said, raising her head from his. Mulder looked up into her face. He smiled at her totally out of control hair, sweaty face, smeared makeup and flushed coloring. Now *THAT* was Sexual Scully. "I was just thinking that we might have to get some new office supplies," he said, lowering his eyes to the rapidly darkening blotter beneath her then returning his gaze to hers. She looked down briefly and smiled an embarrassed smile. She tightened her thighs, bringing her legs together to hide the evidence of their lovemaking. "You're...beautiful, Scully." Mulder's voice was low, soft, reverent as his eyes travelled over his partner's spent face and body. Scully squirmed under such obvious adoration. But she was smiling, and she leaned forward, wrapping her arms around Mulder's trembling upper torso, bringing his face against her chest. Mulder closed his eyes, feeling his rough cheek settle in moistly against her perspiration-slicked soft breasts. "Sorry it didn't last longer. Guess I've been ready for...oh...about six years or so now." Scully let out a small laugh. "If you will notice, I wasn't exactly drawing things out myself, Mulder." She stroked her fingers through his sweaty hair, sighing at the simple pleasure this once-forbidden gesture gave her. Mulder was reluctant to leave this soft warm haven, but his back was beginning to ache and he was starting to remember they were still in the office. He pulled his head back from hers and raised himself up off the desk with a sigh. Scully felt Mulder's head pulling away from her hands, and left her fingers where they were, letting the hair slide from between them with disappointment. Mulder looked down and noticed his partner's small pout and took her hands, threading his fingers with hers. "Hey, I'd like to stay nestled there for about the next hundred years or so too, Scully, but I figured maybe we should do some work now." Scully's face registered surprise and embarrassment as for the first time she realized they were still in the basement of the Hoover building, in the middle of a workday. "Oh God...Mulder..." She said, sliding off the edge of the desk, disentangling her hands from his. She scrambled to find her underwear and pantyhose, then grimaced when she encountered their moistened, tattered remains. "Ew." Watching Scully pick up her garments with thumb and forefinger, Mulder reached down and pulled up his underwear and slacks, grateful that he hadn't had time to rip them off and toss them across the room. They were relatively unscathed, and he felt a twinge of sympathy for Scully as he realized her clothes had taken the brunt of their frenzied attempts to get naked. As he fastened up his shirt, he noticed he was a couple of buttons short and felt himself grinning like an idiot. "Hey Scully...see any shirt buttons while you were down there picking up your underwear?" He held out his collar, showing her the little threads left from her hands' frantic work. "Oh Mulder...sorry." Scully said, a slightly contrite smile creasing her features. "But you're not the one who has to go without underwear and hose the rest of the day." "Ooo Scully. Are you trying to kill me?" Mulder said, his crotch getting tight at the thought of Scully naked under her sensible suit. She just smiled and bent to retrieve her bag. She reached in and pulled out a five dollar bill and held it out to him. "Run down to the drugstore and get me some new ones. Size A, nude." Mulder took the five and fingered it thoughtfully. "What if I don't want to?" He raised his eyebrows suggestively. Scully glanced at the clock on the wall and smiled a slow, sexy smile. "If you hurry, Mulder, you can just make it back in time for a nice long lunch before I have to put them back on." Mulder shoved the bill into his pocket and yanked his suit coat from the back of his chair. Look at the way she's looking at you. Are you blind? Why do you think her mouth is always open?" (DD on what advice he'd give Mulder.)
